The Ukrainian government successfully tested a new long-range cruise missile called “Flamingo.” President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the news during a meeting with journalists on August 20. He emphasized that this missile is one of the most effective and powerful projects of Ukraine’s missile program.
According to DW, the “Flamingo” has a flight range of 3,000 kilometers. Zelensky noted that this achievement is a significant step forward for the country’s defense sector. However, he stressed that full details of the missile will not be disclosed yet. Complete information will be shared only when more than one hundred missiles are ready for actual deployment.
Mass production is expected to begin in December 2025 or early 2026. The Ukrainian government believes that the new weapon will considerably strengthen the country’s defense capabilities.
