US President Donald Trump expressed confidence in a trilateral meeting between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States in the near future. However, he openly stated his lack of confidence in the bilateral Kyiv-Moscow summit, according to the Daily Caller.
Trump noted that it is not yet clear whether the planned meeting will be held at the level of heads of state. Commenting on his suspicions, the US president compared the war between Russia and Ukraine to protracted fights between children in the square.
"Over time, they'll still be happy to stop, you understand? This situation is almost identical. Sometimes you have to struggle a little to calm them down. But this battle is going on for a very long time. Thousands of people have died," Trump said.
In an interview with the Daily Caller in his office, White House leader Oval reiterated that Washington would not send its troops to Ukraine. According to him, security guarantees fall mainly on European countries, while the US is limited to assistance and support.
