Man in Batman pajamas handed thief to police

In the U.S. state of Florida, a resident caught a thief who had broken into his neighbor’s car during the night and held him until the police arrived. The curious detail is that he did it while wearing pajamas resembling a Batman costume, reports SCMP.

The incident took place in Cape Coral. Around 2 a.m., police received a report that several cars had been broken into. The suspect, 20-year-old Justin Shimpl, had opened multiple vehicles and stolen items from inside.

At that moment, one of the car owners, Kyle Myvett, woke up from the sound of the alarm. When he went outside, he saw the thief rummaging through a truck. Myvett came up from behind, restrained the criminal, and held him until police arrived.

When law enforcement officers got to the scene, they praised Myvett’s bravery and even took a commemorative photo with him.

It was revealed that Shimpl had previously been caught by police for theft. This time, he was arrested and charged with three major and two minor thefts. Stolen items recovered from him included cash, expensive wristwatches, over $500 worth of gift cards, and two Ray-Ban sunglasses valued at a total of $300.
