On Friday, the Canadian Ministry of Defense had announced that a soldier had been missing in Latvia since Tuesday. The Ministry of Defense noted that he was a qualified technician of the 408th Tactical Helicopter Squadron and held a position of high responsibility.
According to the statement, the body of Canadian officer George Hohl, who had gone missing on September 2 while deployed to Latvia as part of a NATO operation, was found on September 5. The cause of his death is still being investigated, and the inquiry is ongoing.
The statement also emphasized that Canadian police and law enforcement agencies are conducting an investigation in cooperation with Latvian authorities, and all necessary measures are being taken to determine the cause of the soldier's death.
