German Minister of Agriculture and Food, Alois Reiner, put forward an initiative to increase food supplies to prepare the country for unforeseen circumstances.
According to the minister, the main focus is on products that can be consumed ready-made. In particular, it is planned to increase the stock of canned pasta and similar products.
"I want to form them as a national reserve, which can be quickly prepared and consumed with the help of heating," Alois Rainer said in an interview with journalists.
According to the data, the total cost of this initiative is expected to be 80-90 million euros.
Reiner emphasized that current geopolitical events and problems in global supply chains are pushing Germany to implement such measures. Therefore, the stock of finished products is assessed as an important factor for the security and stability of the country.
