The US Secret Service has officially confirmed that additional security measures have been introduced around the White House. According to them, this decision was made in response to the assassination attempt on conservative political activist Charlie Kirk. According to RIA Novosti, the measures were taken to further strengthen security around the president and government institutions.
At the same time, other sources in the Secret Service noted that the restrictions are temporary. According to them, special security barriers and restrictions may be lifted by the end of this week.

Recall that Charlie Kirk was shot and killed on September 10 while giving a speech in the courtyard of the University of Utah campus. The bullet hit him in the neck and he died in hospital.
Following the tragedy, US President Donald Trump ordered flags across the country to be flown at half-staff. Vice President J.D. Vance canceled a planned trip to New York to meet with the deceased activist's family.
