The entry of Russian drones into Polish airspace has alarmed NATO countries. On Wednesday morning, three drones were shot down over Poland, while several others crashed in eastern regions.
Following the incident, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic announced they would send troops, artillery, and air defence systems to Poland. Germany stated it would expand NATO’s activities along the eastern border.
Polish Defence Minister Vladislav welcomed the concrete support from NATO allies. He said the Netherlands would send 300 soldiers and air defence systems, while the Czech Republic would send 100 soldiers and helicopters. It is also reported that Britain and France may send additional aircraft.
Experts assess the incident as a deliberate test by Russia. The drone attack, coming just before the start of the large-scale joint “Zapad-2025” exercises between Belarus and Russia, could further escalate tensions in the region.
