The asteroid designated 2025 FA22 safely passed near the orbits of the Earth and the Moon. According to the Solar Astronomy Laboratory, the celestial body was about 800 thousand kilometers from Earth at 12:41 Tashkent time. Although this is a very large distance, scientists observed it carefully, since this asteroid had once been listed as one of the most dangerous cosmic objects by the European Space Agency.

According to the information, the width of asteroid 2025 FA22 is approximately 130 meters, and its length reaches 290 meters. Scientists say that such a large body could cause significant damage if it collided with Earth. However, this approach passed completely safely.
The next close approach of the asteroid will occur on August 20, 2036. But then it will pass Earth at a much greater distance — 25 times farther than now. According to the laboratory’s calculations, truly dangerous approaches may occur in the years 2089 and 2173. For this reason, astronomers stated that they will continue observing this object.
Possibility of observation through a telescope
After passing Earth’s orbit, asteroid 2025 FA22 will continue its journey moving away from the Sun. This will lead to its full illumination and greater visibility. However, specialists have emphasized that it can only be observed with telescopes having an aperture of at least 30 centimeters. With simple instruments or the naked eye, observing this asteroid is practically impossible.

The safe passage of the asteroid past Earth means one important thing for humanity — there is no reason for concern for now. But its potentially dangerous approaches in the future once again reminded mankind of the need for continuous observation and study of such giant celestial bodies.
