A historic event occurred in the political arena of Albania - after the speech of the first virtual minister, created on the basis of artificial intelligence, Diella, in the country's parliament, the meeting turned into chaos. This was reported by the Albanian Times.
According to the information, on September 18, the government's program was presented in parliament, and the issue of trust in the new cabinet was considered. The session was much shorter than expected and lasted only 24 minutes. 82 Socialist MPs approved the composition of the cabinet proposed by Prime Minister Edi Rama. Following this, Speaker Niko Peleši declared the meeting closed.
However, Diella's appearance on stage - the Minister of Artificial Intelligence appointed responsible for public procurement - was strongly criticized by the opposition. The deputies knocked on the tables, trying to disrupt the meeting. They even threw the Constitution books and containers of water that came into their hands at the Prime Minister and members of the government.
Videos circulating on social media show how the incident escalated. Even the fact that foreign ambassadors sat in the hall, wearing headphones, and watched the conflict did not help to stop the unrest. Even a short break did not soften the situation.
Diella defended herself in her speech. He emphasized that he was not appointed contrary to the Constitution and asked the deputies not to prematurely assess their duties. In his statement, the Minister of Artificial Intelligence recalled the provisions of the constitution and spoke about his contribution to the country's development.
Recall that on September 12, the Albanian government made a historic decision and announced the appointment of an AI-powered model as the minister responsible for public procurement.
This event marks the beginning of a new stage in Albania's political life. However, the opposition's strong resistance raises serious questions about how long this experiment will last.
