Israeli strikes on Gaza City continue. The “Al-Shifa” hospital has been reduced to ruins, but doctors are struggling to treat the wounded. Surgeries are often carried out without anaesthetics and with insufficient medical equipment.
According to Australian volunteer doctors, hundreds of casualties are brought in every day. One reported that an emergency operation was performed on a pregnant woman and her baby survived. It is also said that many children with serious injuries are forced to wait for treatment.
The Israeli army is moving closer to the city. Tanks are entering the centre from the south and west, forcing many civilians to flee their homes.
According to official figures, since October 2023 more than 65,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks. The closure of hospitals and shortages of medicine are worsening the humanitarian situation.
