The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran has detained eight individuals suspected of attempting to reveal state secrets. This was reported by Tasnim news agency.
According to the IRGC statement, the detainees tried to transfer coordinates of secret facilities and information about high-ranking military officials to Israeli intelligence — Mossad. They are accused of providing information to intelligence agencies during the peak of the Iran-Israel conflict.
The organization’s statement notes that the suspects were specially trained by Mossad remotely and were arrested in northeastern Iran before they could execute their plans. Materials for making bombs, explosives, and booby trap devices were also seized from the detainees.
The IRGC considers these arrests as measures to prevent serious threats to national security, and the investigation is ongoing.
