Famous American entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk announced a project that is expected to gain worldwide attention through his artificial intelligence company xAI. According to him, a new online encyclopedia called "Grokipedia" is currently being developed for the public.
According to Musk, this resource, unlike the original Wikipedia, is also based on sources that are currently considered banned and not permitted to be cited. This process is carried out in order to make the encyclopedia comprehensive, to create a basis for the information to cover different views. The billionaire wrote about this on his social network X.
The idea of Grokipedia came after Wikipedia banned citing articles from certain media outlets - such as Fox News, Breitbart, Daily Caller, Epoch Times, New York Post, and the Federalist. This situation caused a lot of criticism. For example, former investment banker John Lefevre assessed this as a "one-sided restriction," while investor David Sachs stated that there is "a great opportunity to rewrite Wikipedia" based on such prohibited sources.
In response to these comments, Elon Musk confirmed that xAI had indeed started developing an encyclopedia. In his words, the new project "will serve the knowledge of all mankind," and its results will be open to everyone. The billionaire sees this step as an important step not only in improving Wikipedia but also in achieving xAI's goal of "complete understanding of the universe."
Recall that Elon Musk had previously criticized Wikipedia, saying that the portal cannot be trusted when checking facts on its social network - X. There are opinions that his new initiative could usher in a new era in the field of encyclopedias.
