According to RIA Novosti, the ranking of cities with the highest rental prices for one-bedroom apartments in the world has been published. The capital of Great Britain, London, took the top spot on the list.
In September, the average rent for a one-bedroom apartment in London was $2,800. If we look at the central regions, this figure reaches up to $3,100. Rent in Singapore is almost the same - only a few dollars cheaper than in London. This shows that renting housing is not easy even in the financial center of Asia.
The average rental price in the US capital, Washington, is around $2,300. In Amsterdam, one of Europe's famous cities, this figure is $2,250, while in the Dublin rental market, a price of $2,200 is observed. In the Icelandic capital Reykjavik, a one-bedroom apartment costs an average of $2,160 per month.
Other cities in the top 10 include Luxembourg and Hong Kong ($2000), Bern ($1800) and Copenhagen ($1750). The cost of living and renting in these cities is high and remains a serious financial challenge for many.
However, at the very bottom of the rating, a completely different picture is observed. The cheapest rent was recorded in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh - a one-bedroom apartment costs only $93 a month. Also, the average price does not exceed 158 dollars in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, 175 dollars in Lusaka, Zambia, and Cairo, the capital of Egypt, 184 dollars in Algeria, and 185 dollars in New Delhi, the capital of India.
These figures clearly demonstrate sharp differences in the global rental market. In one city, an apartment costs thousands of dollars a month, while in another capital, it can be found for almost a hundred dollars. According to experts, this difference stems from the level of economic development, household incomes, and the demand-sufficiency balance.
