U.S. President Donald Trump delivered a speech on October 13 in Israel’s parliament — the Knesset. His remarks were greeted with applause from lawmakers, reports Jerusalem Post. Trump described the visit as “one of the greatest honors of my life.”
According to the president, HAMAS accepted the disarmament clause outlined in the peace agreement. “HAMAS agreed to implement the disarmament plan. This is the beginning of peace,” Trump said. He emphasized that the long-standing conflict in the Gaza Strip has now ended and a new era is beginning in the region.
Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana praised Trump after the speech. “Together with U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson, we call to nominate you for the Nobel Peace Prize next year. There is no one more deserving, Mr. President,” he said.
Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid also spoke during the session, stating: “There is good and evil in this world. If you stand with HAMAS, Hezbollah, or the Iranian regime, you stand with evil. If you stand with Israel — you stand with justice.”
At that moment, two lawmakers — Ayman Odeh and Ofer Cassif — were expelled from the hall for raising a banner reading “genocide” during Trump’s speech.
Trump also mentioned U.S. military support to Israel. “We gave Israel a lot of weapons. Bibi (Netanyahu) called me asking for specific arms — I prepared them and sent them. They were the best, and you used them well. They led to peace,” he said.
According to Trump, the Gaza demilitarization plan has been supported by many countries in the region. “HAMAS will be disarmed. Israel’s security will no longer face any threat,” he declared.
Earlier, HAMAS had begun gradually releasing hostages. The first group included 7 people, and the second — 13.
Under the agreement, in exchange for hostages, Israel must release 250 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences and 1,700 detainees held since the war began.
Thus, Donald Trump’s speech in Israel is being viewed not only as a diplomatic move but also as a new historical stage in global politics.
