Airport staff in Japan have set a record by not losing a single passenger's luggage in 30 years, according to the Daily Mail. With this result, they demonstrated a high level of trust and responsibility.
Located on an artificial island in Osaka Bay, Kansay International Airport serves millions of passengers and their luggage daily. In 2023, more than 10 million pieces of cargo were transported through the airport, and not a single one was lost. For this reason, Kansai has been recognized eight times as the "World's Best Baggage Delivery Airport."
The main factor in achieving perfection is Japanese formality and a sense of responsibility. Each bag is checked at least three times, delicate items are transported with special care, and if moisture is detected, the staff wipes and dries the suitcase.
However, despite the airport's potential, it is sinking year by year. The $14 billion structure, built on two artificial islands, has decreased by 11.5 meters. This is more than engineers predicted for 50 years.
The concrete pillars are sinking into the soft seabed. Sea water threatens the runways.
