Millions of people in the US opposed Trump's policies

On October 18, millions of citizens across the US took to the streets to protest the political course of President Donald Trump, Reuters reports.

According to the organizers, more than 2,700 rallies were held in various regions of the country. The largest protests were concentrated in Washington, New York, and Chicago. It is reported that a total of about 7 million people participated in all the gatherings.

Demonstrators came out with American flags and posters with various slogans: "No to the King," "America is being killed by billionaires," "Get rid of the regime," "It's democracy, not monarchy." These words expressed the general mood of the rally - a call for freedom and popular sovereignty.

According to Reuters, the protests were peaceful. They were attended not only by young people, but also by the elderly and families with children. No instances of violence or arrests were recorded.

Lee Greenberg, co-founder of the organization Indivisible, which initiated the protests, said the following about the rallies:

"There is nothing important for an American to say 'We have no kings' and to exercise the right to peaceful protest."

Observers believe these rallies are not just a one-day protest, but a manifestation of deep dissatisfaction with Trump's subsequent political actions. In particular, military measures to restrict immigration, the deployment of the National Guard in cities, and criminal persecution of political opponents caused great concern among these citizens.

Trump has justified these actions as "measures to combat crime and strengthen national security." At the same time, the Republican Party called the protests "rallies inciting hatred towards America."

The rallies took place against the backdrop of the government's closure, which temporarily suspended a number of state social programs. This further fueled public discontent, as hundreds of thousands of civil servants were left unemployed.

This time, the protests are the second largest wave after similar promotions in June. According to the American public, these rallies once again reminded the country's population of their democratic rights.

Interestingly, during the protests, President Trump was busy playing golf in Florida. This situation was also perceived by many as a political symbol - the people are on the street, and the leader is at rest.

Thus, mass protests in America marked the beginning of a new stage in the country's political life. The voices of millions of citizens reminded us that the struggle for democracy and freedom in the country has not yet ended.
