Today, a serious theft occurred at the famous Louvre Museum in Paris. According to reports, nine items from the collection of precious jewelry belonging to Napoleon and Empress Josephine have been lost.
French Minister of Culture Rashida Dati wrote about the incident on her social media page:
"This morning, during the opening of the Louvre, a theft occurred. There were no casualties in the incident. Now I am at the scene with museum staff and the police."
The Louvre administration officially announced on October 19 that the museum was temporarily closed due to an "emergency." According to Le Parisien, the thieves used repair work to enter the building using a freight elevator. Then they broke the windows and doors and reached the Apollo Gallery.
According to the investigation, the incident occurred very quickly - in just seven minutes. The thieves stole nine valuables, including a basin, a necklace, a jiga, and a tiara.
Currently, museum specialists are conducting an inventory process and compiling an accurate list of lost items. The police launched an investigation into one of the most mysterious cultural thefts in the history of Paris.
