75 million-year-old dinosaur bones found in the mountains of Karakalpakstan

In the territory of the Sultan Uvays mountain range of Karakalpakstan, dinosaur bones dating back to 75 million years BC were discovered. This was reported by the "Uzbekistan 24" TV channel.

According to the information, the find was discovered in the process of joint research by scientists of the Berdakh Karakalpak State University and specialists of the State Geological Museum of Uzbekistan.

According to the director of the State Geological Museum, Akhmadjon Akhmadshayev, this dinosaur lived in the territory of Uzbekistan during the Cretaceous period - about 100-65 million years ago. Scientists discovered his spine, bone marrow, and tibia.

According to Akhmadshayev, during the Cretaceous period, there were both sea and dry land in the territory of Uzbekistan, and the discovery of dinosaur tracks and bones in these places is very important for science.

"Such findings are of great importance not only from a scientific point of view, but also for the development of tourism. Therefore, it is necessary to create museums and exhibition facilities," he said.

Currently, the species of the discovered bone remains is being determined, and after the research is completed, they will be transferred to the State Geological Museum.
