A tragic incident occurred on Lizard Island in Australia. The Coral Adventurer cruise ship has forgotten one of its travelers on the island, Deutsche Welle reports. Later, the body of an 80-year-old woman was found.
According to reports, a 60-day travel ticket cost approximately $50,000. The tourists were hiking and snorkeling on the island, but the elderly woman couldn't reach the top and fell behind the group.
Since the woman traveled alone, her disappearance wasn't immediately noticed. The ship left the island at sunset, but this became known during dinner. A few hours later, the ship retreated, a helicopter was involved in the search, but the woman's body was found.
Police assessed the incident as "sudden and indisputable death." The Australian Maritime Safety Authority is investigating the incident. The Coral Adventurer crew will be questioned about the reasons for the loss and the delayed search.
The head of the company, Mark Fayfield, expressed his condolences to the woman's relatives, saying, "We are deeply saddened by this tragedy." It turned out that there was neither a doctor nor a nurse on board the ship. The Coral Adventurer accommodated 120 passengers and 46 crew members and was designed to organize special trips to the Australian coast.
