In India’s Andhra Pradesh state, a stampede during a religious ceremony at a temple in the city of Srikakulam shocked the entire nation, reported Hindustan Times.
It is said that hundreds of people gathered for the ceremony. However, during the exit from the temple, the crowd began moving in the opposite direction, and those entering pushed over those trying to leave.
According to official data, at least ten people died, most of them women and children. Several others were taken to nearby hospitals with serious injuries, and some are in critical condition.
An investigation into the incident has been launched. Local authorities and rescue services have taken the situation under control.
Such tragedies have become increasingly frequent in India in recent years. Experts point to poor crowd management, narrow infrastructure, and inadequate adherence to safety rules as the main causes.
