Typhoon "Fung-Vong," covering the Philippine sky, has created a real threat situation throughout the country. According to the South China Morning Post, nearly one million citizens have been evacuated to safe areas due to the approaching dangerous storm.
According to official data, heavy rain and wind have already begun to be observed in several areas of Luson Island. Due to the typhoon, the water level has risen sharply, leading to power outages. The government quickly activated evacuation centers.
Due to the sharp deterioration of weather conditions, more than 400 flights across the country were canceled. The activities of many schools and offices were temporarily suspended. Currently, wind speeds have reached 230 kilometers per hour. According to meteorologists, the "Fung-Vong" may arrive at Aurora Province, located on the eastern coast of Luson, tonight.
The government declared a state of emergency and issued the highest level of danger - the fifth level - in the central and southeastern regions of the country. Rescue teams actively evacuated the population and took control of areas with a high risk of flooding.
Meanwhile, the Philippines is still busy addressing the consequences of the Kalmaegi typhoon, which struck several weeks ago. It was reported that 224 people died in that disaster, and thousands of homes were destroyed.
Meteorologists warn residents to take precautions, noting that the power of the "Fung-Vong" might be even greater than the "Kalmaegi." Power outages, road closures, and flooding are expected in some areas.
The Philippines is one of the countries with the highest number of typhoon arrivals in the Asian region. Every year, dozens of storms test the country's population. But this time, the level of strength and direction of "Fung-Wong" leaves the country in the face of another serious test.
The government and international organizations have intensified the work on providing the population with food, drinking water, and first aid. It is noted that in such a situation, the citizens of the country strive to overcome the trials of nature together.
