Uzbek migrant in Moscow sentenced to 1 year of suspended imprisonment for murder

A court verdict has been announced regarding a serious incident that occurred in the city of Shchelkovo, Moscow Oblast, Russia, sparking significant public discussion. According to reports, a 26-year-old Uzbek citizen who beat and killed a 49-year-old deaf-mute man was sentenced to only 1 year of suspended imprisonment. It was also reported that his accomplice who helped him hide the body was deported from Russia. This was reported by "Moscow Online."
The incident occurred on July 20 of this year. The deceased gestured to the two migrants searching for metal to remind them not to be frivolous. However, the men perceived this gesture as an insult, and one of them beat the deaf-mute man several times. The victim fell and died at the scene from severe head injuries.
After that, two people tried to drag the body to the side and destroy the traces. Soon both were arrested: one accused of murder, and the other of concealing traces of the crime.
Initially, the investigation assessed this action as "intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm." However, the charges were later reduced to "causing death by negligence." Therefore, the court also significantly mitigated the sentence, conditionally limiting it to one year.
The deceased's relatives strongly reject this decision. According to them, the deceased was not the cause of the quarrel; on the contrary, he called for peace. Therefore, the investigation's mitigation of the charges and the court's "soft" verdict are considered unfair.
