Controversy has intensified around the "peace plan" proposed by the US to Ukraine

The issue of ending the war in Ukraine has once again become a central topic of discussion. This time, the focus is on a document forming around the Trump administration, known in the media as the "peace plan." But if you look at the discussions, it's not hard to feel that this plan is closer to Moscow than to Washington: the document practically requires decisive and heavy concessions from Kyiv.

Who is behind the plan?

The name at the center of the discussion is Stephen Whitkoff. Yes, Trump's billionaire friend who periodically interferes in political matters and returns after meeting with Putin without an interpreter without understanding what was said. Trump appears to have given him another chance, but this time he is said to have participated in developing a plan concerning the fate of Ukraine.

The architect of the plan on the Russian side is Kirill Dmitriev - an official born in Kyiv, who later tried to present himself as a "significant figure" in the Kremlin.

Whitkoff, however, managed to create his usual awkward situation - he wrote on Twitter that "the data came from K." and quickly deleted it. At first glance, it's as if he thought he was writing an SMS and sent it to social media. In short, it's not diplomacy - it's a reality show.

What does the plan say?

According to media reports, the document requires Ukraine to:

- Full transfer of Donbas to Russia;

- Sharp reduction of the army;

- Abandoning long-range weapons;

- Transformation of the Russian language into the state language;

- Imposing restrictions on military infrastructure.

Notably, Russia hardly requires a solution or compromise. As the document demands unilateral concessions from Ukraine, the question naturally arises: is this a peace plan or a list of the Kremlin's wishes?

Why now?

The discussion of the plan is continuously unfolding against the backdrop of two important processes:

- Russia is advancing on the front in some directions;

- In Kyiv, a major corruption conflict has arisen, and relations with the West are becoming cold.

It is assumed that the US's decision to impose harsh demands on Ukraine depends on these two factors.

What is the conclusion?

This "concept of peace" caused serious objections both in Ukraine and in Europe. Because the conditions in it are very difficult for an independent state. Washington's goal appears to be to end the war quickly, at any cost. But for Kyiv, this price is too high.

Discussions are heating up in Ukraine, and Europe sees the plan as a serious threat. Western officials began to assess this as a "set of conditions favorable to the Kremlin."

One thing is clear: the controversy surrounding this plan signals the beginning of a new stage in the Ukraine-Russia conflict.
