The new "peace plan" circulating between Washington, Kyiv, and Moscow caused a huge uproar at the end. White House Press Secretary Carolyn Livitt stated that the document proposed by Donald Trump was intended to be a "logically appropriate and acceptable" option for both sides. At the briefing, he said that this plan has been secretly being developed for a month, with the President's special representative Steve Whitkoff and Secretary of State Marco Rubio actively participating in the discussions.
They conducted direct dialogue with Ukraine and Russia and studied the positions of both sides. However, Livitt did not provide a full overview of the document - the plan has not yet received its final form, and a number of changes may be made to it.
In his evening video address, Zelenskyy stated that the Ukrainian and US teams are "continuing work on the points necessary to put an end to the war." US Secretary of Defense Daniel Driscoll personally handed a copy of the plan to Zelenskyy during a meeting in Kyiv on November 20th. According to Axios, both sides agreed to prepare and finalize the document "in a very short time."
According to Zelenskyy's office, the Ukrainian leader openly outlined the most important principles for the country during the meeting and emphasized that every clause included in the plan must have a "fair and worthy conclusion." That is, Kyiv's position is clear: the war can be stopped, but it should not contradict Ukraine's interests.
Meanwhile, Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexei Goncharenko released a document consisting of 28 points in the evening, claiming it was a Trump administration's peace plan. Several Ukrainian media outlets have also published the document, but there is no official confirmation from Washington yet. The validity of the plan is unknown, but it is clear that interest and questions in society are growing.
The biggest intrigue in the current situation is what kind of political agreement is being discussed between the US, Ukraine, and Russia, and to what extent this agreement can be implemented in practice. The document, which Washington rated as "moderate for all," creates a mixed impression in the Kyiv public, therefore future decisions will cause serious debates both in Ukraine and in the international arena.
It is clear that in the coming weeks this topic will become even more relevant, and each new piece of information can determine the next stage of the war.
