Is Erdogan preparing his youngest son as heir?

According to Bloomberg sources, the youngest son of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is already actively involved in the process of selecting government personnel and is likely to be prepared as a successor in the future.

According to Turkish law, Erdogan must resign from the presidency in 2028. However, his family and AKP leadership planned to gradually transfer power to his son after this term. If parliament holds early elections or the constitution is amended, Erdogan can run for re-election.

According to Bloomberg analysis, the domestic political and international environment is suitable for this succession, although it has not yet been officially confirmed. Erdoğan has served as president since 2014 and previously as prime minister from 2003 to 2014. In the 2023 elections, he won in the second round with 52.18% of the votes.

The next presidential elections in Turkey are scheduled for 2028.
