The Swiss city of Geneva has once again become a venue for major political dialogue. The trilateral meeting involving delegations from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States lasted about two hours. Since the negotiations were held in strict secrecy and behind closed doors, limited details are being leaked to the public.
"Difficult, but productive": the attitude of the Russian side
The head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, expressed his initial thoughts on the results of the meeting. According to him, the dialogue process was quite complicated, but a productive atmosphere was maintained between the parties. Most importantly, an agreement was reached to continue the dialogue. The time and place of the next meeting are still being kept secret, but it is expected to be held in the near future.
Political issues "stuck" and military capabilities
According to the authoritative American publication Axios, the parties encountered certain obstacles at the first meeting on February 17. Although discussions on political issues have entered a "stuck", certain developments have been observed in the military direction.
The Russian side has not hidden its dissatisfaction with the recent statements of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to Moscow, some of Kiev's statements are aimed not at peace, but at appeasing the domestic political audience, which overshadows the seriousness of the negotiations.
"Tense" atmosphere of the negotiations
The head of the Ukrainian delegation, Rustem Umerov, also confirmed that the talks have resumed. However, the process is not going smoothly. RBC sources describe the discussions on the first day as "very tense". The negotiations were held in parallel in both bilateral (Russia-Ukraine) and trilateral (with the participation of the United States) formats.

Experts say the Geneva talks are a major achievement in themselves. While a definitive agreement is still a long way off, keeping diplomatic channels open and the parties sitting around the same table is an important foundation for a future solution.
