This debate demonstrated, on the one hand, the escalating internal disputes surrounding Israel in the US, and on the other hand, the official US diplomat's (ambassador's) public stance on such questions. For now, it's not a single "who's right" conclusion, but rather the fact that the parties have begun to openly express their opposing arguments - therefore, this topic could continue for a long time.
