Former Russian Deputy Defense Minister arrested

Serious charges have been brought against former First Deputy Defense Minister of Russia Ruslan Tsalikov. By the decision of the Basmanny Court, he was placed under house arrest for a period of one month and 29 days. According to the investigation, Tsalikov is suspected of forming a criminal organization that operated from 2017 to 2024. It is alleged that state budget funds were embezzled and subsequently laundered through this group.

Investigative authorities also accuse Tsalikov of bribery. Currently, 12 episodes are being reviewed, and he could face up to 20 years in prison under the article for organizing a criminal group. During the investigation, numerous real estate properties, including land plots and residential buildings registered in his name and those of his family members, were identified. His children also own businesses in construction and real estate management that generate significant income.

Recall that Ruslan Tsalikov was dismissed from his post by a decree of President Vladimir Putin in June 2024. He is known as one of the close associates of former Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. For now, these charges are the investigative version, and all details are expected to be clarified during the trial.
