US urges Iranian civilians to avoid military sites

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has issued an urgent security warning for Iranian civilians. According to the official statement, the Iranian government is using densely populated cities such as Dezful, Isfahan, and Shiraz to launch drones and ballistic missiles. These actions pose a serious threat to the lives of civilians. Reports tengrinews.kz.
CENTCOM representatives stated that areas used for military purposes lose their protected status under international law and may become legitimate military targets. Therefore, the US military is urging Iranian citizens to stay in their homes and keep away from military facilities. The American side stated that it is taking all measures to avoid civilian casualties, but cannot guarantee safety in areas used by the Iranian regime.
Since February 28, 2026, Iran has launched hundreds of ballistic missiles and thousands of strike drones. However, the pace of attacks has slowed following the weakening of Iran's military capabilities by the US and its partners. Meanwhile, on March 8, Bahrain, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates reported new attacks by Iran on civilian infrastructure, including water treatment plants. Iran, in turn, claims that its water supply system on Qeshm island was damaged by US airstrikes.
