Under what conditions did Putin offer Europe to purchase gas and oil?

Since the start of the US-Israel war against Iran, the "heating up" of the energy market has intensified significantly. Especially against the backdrop of threats around the Strait of Hormuz and concerns about oil flows, prices have risen, and energy security has once again come to the forefront for many countries. In this situation, Russia is ready to resume oil and gas supplies to European countries.

Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed this issue at a government meeting on Monday, March 9th. According to him, the main condition for resuming deliveries is the creation of an atmosphere of long-term and stable cooperation without political pressure on Moscow.

Speaking about Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and the consequent fluctuations in the oil market, the Kremlin leader, in the context of his address to Europe, said: "If European companies and buyers "decide to change course" and ensure "long-term, stable joint work with Russia, free from the political conjuncture, free from the influence of the political situation" - "please."

Putin also emphasized that Russia has never refused to work with Europeans. But Moscow needs clear "signals" from Europe: are you really ready for cooperation, will it last long, and most importantly - will stability and stability be guaranteed?

At the same time, Putin said that he set a task for the government: to assess whether it is expedient to supply Russian energy carriers to Europe and not to wait for Europe to "demonstratively close the door." It was noted that in the current situation, Russian oil supplies mainly to the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, as well as Hungary and Slovakia.

There is also a noteworthy aspect about prices: earlier that day, it was reported that oil prices exceeded $100 per barrel (approximately 86 euros in calculations) for the first time in almost four years. Against the backdrop of rising prices, it was also reported that the finance ministers of the G7 countries discussed the option of using oil reserves and agreed on a common position.

It should be noted that Russia's supply of energy carriers to European countries was gradually reduced to a minimum within the framework of EU sanctions packages after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

In short, against the backdrop of tensions in the energy market and rising prices, Russia sees the possibility of a "return," but also sets a clear condition: a policy-free, stable, and long-term agreement. Now the question is in Europe: what will be the answer to this challenge?
