Greece declared its non-participation in military operations in the Strait of Hormuz

The Greek government stated that it has no intention of participating in any military operations that could be carried out in the Strait of Hormuz. This was stated by the press secretary of the country's government, Pavlos Marinakis, while answering journalists' questions about the possibility of sending warships by Athens under US pressure.
According to him, the issue of participation in the Hormuz Strait operation is not being considered at all on the Greek government's agenda. Athens strives to maintain a cautious and balanced position in foreign policy and prefers to refrain from direct intervention in conflicts in the region.
At the same time, officials confirmed that Greece is only participating in the European Union's Operation Aspides mission in the Red Sea. Within the framework of this operation, Athens, in cooperation with Italy, contributes to ensuring the safety of merchant ships in the region.
It is noted that this mission has clear geographical boundaries, it is mainly limited to the Red Sea region and does not affect the Strait of Hormuz. Therefore, Greece's participation in this operation should not be considered interference in the conflict with Iran.
The government representative once again clearly stated Athens' position: the country has no intention of intervening in any possible military clashes with Iran. Thus, Greece demonstrates its preference for a diplomatic and cautious policy even at a time when the situation in the region is tense.
