The Orion spacecraft presents the first photographs from the lunar seas

The US spacecraft Orion sent the first images from the other side of the Moon to Earth. According to publications, the participants of the "Artemis II" mission were able to observe the area of the Eastern Sea (Mare Orientale) on the Moon's surface for the first time through onboard photographs.
NASA's statement emphasized that the lunar seas are vast lowlands covered with ancient basalt lava flows, within which lies the Eastern Sea. The crater, with a diameter of more than 900 km, was formed approximately 3.8 billion years ago as a result of a collision with an asteroid.
Four astronauts are participating in the flight of "Artemis-2." They are scheduled to orbit the Moon for 10 days and return without landing on the Moon's surface. This mission will allow us to explore areas of the lunar surface previously unseen on Earth in human history.
