The situation in the Middle East has entered a new phase of tension. Despite the temporary truce with Iran, a real war is raging on Lebanese soil. Zamin.uz provides details of the latest bloody events in the region.

Intense 10 minutes: more than 100 targets destroyed

On Wednesday, April 8, the Israeli Air Force launched unprecedentedly intense strikes on Lebanese territory. According to official data from the Israeli army, in just 10 minutes, more than 100 command centers and military facilities belonging to the Hezbollah movement were targeted in the capital Beirut, as well as in the eastern and southern parts of the country. About 50 Israeli fighter jets took part in the major operation. Lebanese security services reported more than 150 airstrikes.

Humanitarian Tragedy: Casualties and Damage

According to the latest figures from the Lebanese Ministry of Health, at least 89 people have been killed and more than 700 injured in the attacks. The death toll could rise as many people are still trapped under the rubble.

  • Medical Situation: More than 100 ambulances from the Lebanese Red Cross are working around the clock.

  • Obstacles: Heavy traffic jams on the capital's roads are making it difficult to get the wounded to hospitals. Authorities are urging residents to give way to ambulances.

War outside the peace: Trump and Israel’s firm stance

Most notably, these attacks are taking place against the backdrop of a two-week ceasefire agreement between the US and Israel with Iran. However, the Israeli government and US President Donald Trump have made it clear that the ceasefire does not apply to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

“We are determined to demarcate the theater of military operations in Iran and Lebanon. We will not stop until the threat to our northern territories is eliminated,” said Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz.

Tehran’s response: Is peace in danger?

According to the Iranian Fars news agency, Tehran is seriously considering the possibility of withdrawing from the truce with the US in response to the bloody attacks in Lebanon. Iranian military officials have threatened Israel with new strikes. In protest, shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has been suspended again.

The conflict between Hezbollah and Israel escalated in March, when the group launched an offensive in northern Israel in support of Tehran. In a month, the militants reportedly fired about 6,000 rockets and drones at Israel.

Dear readers, do you think the situation in Lebanon will escalate into a major regional war? Can the temporary truce with Iran hold?
