In Kyrgyzstan, another high-profile event has taken place in the law enforcement system. Reports have emerged about the detention of former senior officials of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) — Timur Shabdanbekov and Daniel Risaliev. This was reported by the publication Kaktus.media, citing local sources.
According to preliminary information, Timur Shabdanbekov is suspected of abuse of official authority. It is also reported that, in connection with his case, six more employees of the SCNS system have been detained on the same charges. This situation indicates that serious inspections have begun within the country’s security agencies.
On the other hand, Daniel Risaliev has been charged with corruption-related offenses. It is reported that he was detained on April 13. According to 24.kg, the First May District Court of the city of Bishkek ordered his house arrest until June 11.
Notably, these events are taking place amid personnel changes in the country’s national security system. In particular, the head of the SCNS, Kamchybek Tashiev, who had led the agency since 2020, was dismissed from his position on February 10. On the same day, one of his deputies, Daniel Risaliev, was also removed from office.
A week later, another deputy — Timur Shabdanbekov — also left his position on February 17. This sequence indicates that internal processes within the government system were quite serious.
The President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov explained these decisions as a measure to prevent the emergence of disorder and chaos in society. He emphasized that maintaining order and discipline in state structures is a top priority.
In conclusion, these events indicate the beginning of major changes and serious investigations within Kyrgyzstan’s security system. The following developments may further clarify how extensive this case is.
