Recep Tayyip Erdoğan once again heated up the agenda amid the tense situation in the Middle East with his latest firm statement. The Turkish leader openly spoke about a possible military scenario regarding Israel, noting that Ankara could become an active participant in such a process.
In his view, in the conditions of further escalation in the region, Turkey may not remain on the sidelines. According to information from The Jerusalem Post, Erdoğan, referring to the country’s actions in Karabakh and Libya, stated that if necessary, there is a possibility of entering Israel.
“Nothing can stop us,” the Turkish leader said, thereby even more openly expressing his position. According to him, possible steps may be connected not only with military but also with humanitarian factors.
Erdoğan cited the situation in Lebanon, where more than 1.2 million people were forced to leave their homes. In this way, he expressed concern that a similar scenario could also occur in Palestine.
The President of Turkey addressed the international community, stressing the need to prevent such a severe humanitarian crisis in Palestine. In his opinion, indifference to the situation may lead to even greater problems in the future.
This statement also caused a sharp reaction from Israel. The country’s Minister of Cultural Heritage Amihai Eliyahu strongly criticized the Turkish leader, calling him a “megalomaniac dictator with imperialist ambitions”.
In addition, it was previously reported that the Prosecutor’s Office of Turkey demanded that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu be sentenced to life imprisonment on charges of genocide and other serious crimes. It was also noted that in November last year, an arrest warrant was issued for him and 34 other people from his circle.
