Ukraine receives international Four Freedoms Award

President Volodymyr Zelensky and the people of Ukraine have been honored with the International Four Freedoms Award. The ceremony took place on April 16 in Middelburg, Netherlands, attended by King Willem-Alexander and Prime Minister Rob Jetten, according to Dw.com reports .
The Roosevelt Institute presented the award to recognize the courage of Ukrainians against the ongoing large-scale Russian aggression. The institute emphasized that Ukraine is fighting for the security of all Europe and defending freedom and democracy under extremely difficult conditions.
During his speech, Zelensky called for the creation of an international tribunal to ensure accountability for crimes committed during the conflict. He compared this necessity to the trials held against Nazi criminals after World War II.
The Four Freedoms Award is based on Franklin D. Roosevelt's 1941 speech regarding freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. Since 1982, it has been awarded to individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to protecting these fundamental human rights.
