The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue their attacks on strategic oil infrastructure within Russian territory. Following a series of strikes in the Tuapse and Perm directions in recent days, Ukrainian drones have now reached the Primorsk port, a critical facility located in the Baltic region. This port is considered one of Russia's largest oil loading terminals.

On the night of May 3, the Leningrad region faced a large-scale drone attack. Regional Governor Aleksandr Drozdenko reported that air defense systems destroyed more than 60 drones. He noted that the primary target of the attack was the Primorsk sea trade port.

A fire broke out in the port area during the efforts to repel the attacks. According to official reports, the consequences of the fire have been partially contained, and no oil spills have been recorded. However, data from the international monitoring service FIRMS indicates that signs of fire are still visible in the port area.

The local publication "Astra" reported that the attack damaged an oil loading berth at the port and possibly a "Pantsir" air defense system. This suggests that the attack was precise and targeted.

According to witnesses, the impact of the night attack was also felt in the city of Saint Petersburg. Reports from the "Rotonda" and "Fontanka" publications state that loud explosions were heard in the city, likely related to the operation of air defense systems. Residents also complained about mobile internet outages.

Due to the attack, operations at Pulkovo Airport were temporarily suspended, resulting in the delay or cancellation of dozens of flights. This indicates that the attack affected not only military but also civilian infrastructure.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, a total of 334 drones were shot down over 15 regions of the country and the annexed Crimea during that night. In the Moscow region, a 77-year-old citizen was killed as a result of a drone attack, and three people were injured in the Smolensk region.

It is reported that since the end of March, Ukraine has intensified attacks on Russia's main oil export ports in the Baltic region — Ust-Luga and Primorsk. These ports are of strategic importance for oil exports in western Russia.

The Primorsk port has a capacity to load more than one million barrels of oil per day and plays a vital role in exporting Russia's Urals crude oil. In 2025, the port handled a cargo turnover of nearly 64 million tons.

Amid the attacks, it was announced that operations at the Ust-Luga and Primorsk ports have been temporarily suspended. The head of the Leningrad region emphasized that the region is effectively becoming a frontline area.

These events demonstrate that the geopolitical situation in the region is further escalating and that energy infrastructure continues to remain at the center of the attacks.
