Kazakhstan introduces a 'list of shame' for bribe-takers

A special public registry for individuals and companies involved in economic crimes is being established in Kazakhstan. According to the new regulation, information about those involved in legal violations will be included in a publicly accessible list. This was reported by Tengrinews.

This system will come into effect on May 18 of this year. It will include three categories of individuals: natural persons found guilty by court verdict, heads and employees of organizations involved in economic crimes, as well as legal entities used in the commission of crimes.

The registry will be published on the official website of the Economic Investigation Service. It will contain personal data of citizens, the article of the criminal code, and information about the body that reviewed the case. For companies, the organization's name and identification number will be displayed.

The list will also be updated regularly. When a conviction is expunged, the term expires, a person passes away, or a company is liquidated, they will be removed from the registry.

The new system is expected to strengthen the fight against corruption and economic crimes, and increase public oversight.
