BMW unveiled the new electric i3

BMW has introduced a new electric i3 built on its Neue Klasse platform, signaling the next step in the company’s EV strategy. The sedan comes with two electric motors that produce a combined 469 horsepower, while the claimed driving range reaches about 700 kilometers on a full charge.
One of the model’s main highlights is its charging speed. BMW says just 10 minutes of charging can provide enough energy for up to 400 kilometers of travel. That could make the new i3 a strong competitor in the growing premium electric car segment, where fast charging and long range are becoming key selling points.
The car also features what BMW describes as a “symbiotic” driver assistance system. It can automatically take control in certain situations by analyzing important driver indicators such as gaze direction and posture. The company presents this as a step toward a more intuitive and responsive safety system.
Production of the new i3 is scheduled to begin in August at BMW’s plant in Munich. The company has not yet announced an official price, but early estimates suggest the vehicle could cost around $60,000. BMW has also released additional exterior and interior images of the new model.
