'Godfather' author Francis Ford Coppola hospitalized

Francis Ford Coppola, director of “The Godfather,” has been hospitalized in Rome, according to Ansa news agency. No official statement has yet been made about his health condition.

Reports say he is receiving treatment at Rome’s “Tor Vergata” hospital. Coppola has been spending the summer in Italy and recently attended the Magna Grecia festival in Calabria, where he presented his new film “Megalopolis.”

Speaking to fans at the event, he said: “Young people tell me the world is in a difficult state. But I believe humanity can overcome any challenges. We must build a great future together for our children.” The director was also scouting locations for a new project scheduled to be filmed in the autumn.
