Minister of Culture Ozodbek Nazarbekov appeared in a promotional video for a private university.
The video was published on July 4 on the university’s official page. In the clip, the minister addresses young people and recommends studying at the institution.
“Taking this opportunity, I advise all our youth to study at this university,” Nazarbekov says in the video. His words sparked widespread discussion on social media.
Previously, Nazarbekov was also associated with an advertisement for a clothing store. At that time, the Antimonopoly Committee fined the store, but concluded the minister was not officially involved.
According to Article 16 of the Law "On Advertising" of Uzbekistan, it is prohibited to present a product as being endorsed by state authorities or officials.
By law, public servants must refrain from any activity that may mislead the public or imply official approval. This requirement applies to all government representatives.
So far, no official statement has been issued regarding this new appearance. However, it has reignited legal concerns and public debate.
