In the history of Uzbek cinema, one of the films that left a deep mark in the hearts of viewers is “Telba”. Despite the passing years, its characters, touching scenes, and story of sincere love are still remembered by fans.
Actress Dilnoza Kubayeva shared her memories about the shooting process of this film. According to her, some scenes were so powerful that for a moment she felt not as if she was acting in front of a camera, but as if she was truly living the situation in real life.
“My character had words addressed to her mother: ‘Even if I spend my whole life selling samsa at a bus stop, even if I die from grief, I will not go back on my word, mom!’ At that moment, I was so deeply immersed in the role that it felt like a real event. It seemed as if in front of me was not actress Ra’no Yarasheva, but my real mother,” Kubayeva said.
She noted that the filming took place in the cold season, which became a serious challenge for her. “Wearing thin clothes, my lips trembled from the cold. But I clenched my teeth and endured. Every time they said ‘Stop!’, I would quickly put on my warm clothes again,” the actress added.
Among fans of the film, the most common question is whether there will be a sequel to “Telba”. Dilnoza Kubayeva gave a clear answer: “I am deeply grateful to all our compatriots who watched this film with love. But since many of the characters have died, I believe this film should remain as it is and be preserved in the hearts of the people.”
For reference, “Telba” was filmed in 2008 and is considered one of the most discussed and watched films in Uzbek cinema. The director was Ayub Shahobiddinov, the screenwriter Yolqin Tuychiev, and the producer Avaz Tojikhanov.
The main roles were played by Dilnoza Kubayeva, Ulugbek Qodirov, Ra’no Yarasheva, Alisher Uzokov, Ubaydulla Omon, and other famous actors. The film vividly portrayed the dramatic struggle between the sincere love of a poor young man and a girl from a wealthy family, their loyalty, and the social obstacles standing in their way.
The main conclusion for the audience is that even if “Telba” does not have a sequel, its influence will live on in the history of Uzbek cinema for many years.
