The legal battle between Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt over the Château Miraval winery is still ongoing. According to Page Six, the actress revealed new and painful details about their divorce in her latest court filing.
“The events that led to my separation from my husband were a deeply emotional trauma for me and our children,” Jolie stated in her filing.
She also demanded that Brad Pitt pay $33,000 (2.6 million rubles) to cover court expenses. Jolie explained that these costs arose in response to her ex-husband’s legal filings.
Jolie said that when she filed for divorce, she left Pitt the Los Angeles home and the Miraval estate without any compensation, hoping to support him during a difficult time. However, she and the children never returned there, as the place is associated with painful memories.
Reports indicate that nearly all of Jolie’s savings were invested in the Miraval project. She refused child support and other financial help, deciding instead to sell her share as the only viable solution.
“I was very worried about our children’s health, so I took nearly two years off from work to focus on caring for them and helping them recover,” Jolie added.
In 2017, the actress offered Pitt to buy her share of the family property, but negotiations stalled. “Miraval was the center of our lives. We got married there, I raised our children there. Losing that home was a painful trial for all of us,” she recalled.
For reference, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt met in 2006 on the set of “Mr. & Mrs. Smit” and married in 2014. However, in 2016 they announced their separation. Seven years later, in August 2023, their divorce was officially finalized.
Despite the legal closure, the relationship between the former couple remains strained. Reports say none of Pitt’s six children communicate with him, and some have even removed his surname from their names.
