Netflix shut down the studio Boss Fight Entertainment, which was responsible for developing the mobile game Squid Game: Unleashed. Studio staff announced this on LinkedIn.
The company acquired Boss Fight in March 2022, stating that the team's experience would help accelerate the development of the game's direction. After the release of Squid Game: Unleashed, Netflix repeatedly noted its success - the game ranked first in the free action category in 107 countries. Recently, CEO Greg Peters, in his revenue report, cited the project as an example of the direction Netflix wants to continue developing.
Nevertheless, three years after the deal, the studio closed. Netflix representatives refused to comment on the reasons. The co-founder of Boss Fight, David Rippy, and the game development director, David Luman, thanked their colleagues for their many years of work and noted that they are proud of the projects released.
