The famous film company is starting film production based on the world of Labubu

The plush sensation Labubu could move to the big screen - Sony Pictures has reached an agreement to create a film about famous monster dolls, which have become a global phenomenon in recent years. The project is currently only in its initial stage, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Labubu is a series of toys invented by artist Kasing Lung and originally created by How2Work. After Pop Mart began production in 2019, the monsters' popularity skyrocketed. Buyers around the world are organizing a real hunt to find these figures, which are sold in the "blind box" format - you can only find out which character is in the box when you open it and buy it.

Demand was so high that a second bustling market appeared around the collection. Rare publications, limited series, and collaborations are being sold at auctions for sums up to six digits. Another wave of popularity occurred thanks to celebrities: Blackpink made Lisa Labubu part of her image, and the toys instantly became a favorite accessory for fashion influencers.

Now Labubu is moving towards a new stage - a full-length film. The project currently has no producer or director, and the studio has not disclosed whether the film will be animated or a live-action film. However, the project's potential scale is reminiscent of the history of other brands that previously traveled from store shelves to world film premieres.
