The famous character from the film "Harry Potter" became a New Year's symbol in China

On the eve of the lunar New Year in China, the famous character from the Harry Potter film, Drako Malfoy, unexpectedly became a symbol of the holiday. Decorations and greeting cards featuring the character, played by actor Tom Felton, are gaining popularity on social media and online shopping sites.
The reason for this is the Chinese translation of the name Draco Malfoy, which is pronounced as "Ma-er-fu." This expression sounds similar to the Chinese words "horse" and "luck." This situation is perceived as a timeless symbol for the Year of the Horse 2026.

According to Chinese tradition, before the New Year, inscriptions wishing prosperity, happiness, and good fortune are hung on the doors of homes. This year, many apartments are being decorated with paintings featuring Draco Malfoy.
Malfoy stickers, magnets, and decor are actively sold on one of the largest e-commerce platforms - Taobao. And the trend did not escape the attention of actor Tom Felton. He posted a story on his Instagram page about "Drako Malfoy becoming the symbol of Chinese New Year."
