A 58-year-old engineer won a Picasso artwork in a lottery

An unexpected and remarkable event took place in France. A man living in Paris won a work by the famous artist Pablo Picasso, valued at more than 1 million euros, in a charity lottery. This was reported by Euronews.

It is reported that engineer and art enthusiast Ari Khodara learned about his victory during a video call from the Christie’s auction house. When he was told that he had become the new owner of a unique artwork created in 1941, he initially did not believe it and asked: “How can I be sure this is not a joke?”

According to the organizers, more than 120,000 lottery tickets priced at 100 euros each were sold. As a result, nearly 11 million euros were raised for Alzheimer’s disease research.

This draw became the third edition of the charity project “One Picasso for 100 euros,” launched in 2013. This year, the winner received the artwork “Head of a Woman” (Tête de femme), created in Picasso’s distinctive style using gouache on paper.

The portrait depicts the artist’s muse and close companion, French surrealist Dora Maar. The event has attracted significant attention not only from art lovers but also from the wider public.
