"The issue of whether we pay taxes or not should not be discussed" - Ozodbek Nazarbekov
Uzbekistan's Minister of Culture, Ozodbek Nazarbekov, has addressed the debate concerning artists and their tax obligations, stating that discussions about the tax system are often misinterpreted. He emphasized that paying taxes is a civic duty for every citizen, and the question of "not paying" should not arise. Nazarbekov clarified that while the principle of taxation is non-negotiable, discussions can focus on the amount and methods of tax payment. He also noted that all professionals, including artists, are currently paying taxes according to existing legislation.
Minister of Culture Ozodbek Nazarbekov commented on the controversy surrounding the opinions expressed by artists regarding their attitude to taxes.
He said that discussions on the tax system have been misinterpreted, demonstrating that some artists do not have sufficient knowledge in this regard.
The minister noted that paying taxes is the obligation of every citizen, and there should be no "I will not pay" approach to this issue.
In his opinion, there can be a discussion not about refusing to pay taxes, but about its amount and procedure.
Nazarbekov also noted that representatives of all sectors, including artists, pay taxes in accordance with current legislation.
