Shohida Uzoqova, the voice of "Esmeralda," dies at 61

Honored Artist of Uzbekistan, theater and cinema star Shohida Uzoqova celebrated her 61st birthday on April 22. She continues to earn the respect of fans through her versatile creative work, life path, and strong willpower.
The actress was born in the city of Chirchiq and has been interested in art since childhood. Radio plays and musical works awakened a love for the stage in her heart. Interestingly, she recalls that she initially did not know the Uzbek language well and was even forced to learn it with the help of relatives.

Active and spirited during her school years, Shohida Uzoqova participated in various clubs, performed songs, and took part in stage sketches. Although those around her predicted she would become an artist in the future, she initially dreamed of becoming a doctor or a journalist.
Fate led her down an entirely different path. Although she enrolled in a technical vocational school at her parents' request, she intentionally failed her exams. Later, she worked at a factory and even mastered the profession of a crane operator. However, the love for art in her heart led her back toward her dream.

After several attempts, she succeeded in gaining admission to the Tashkent State Institute of Theater and Arts. Later, working under the direction of Bahodir Yoʻldoshev, she developed as an actress and secured her place on the national theater stage.

Shohida Uzoqova's personal life was also not without challenges. She was married to actor Muhammadjon Uzoqov, but her husband passed away at a young age. Despite this, the actress endured life's trials and continued her creative career.
The TV series "Esmeralda" provided a major boost to her popularity among the general public. The process of voicing the main character was not easy for the actress. To fully feel the character, she even had to perform the dubbing while blindfolded.
Today, Shohida Uzoqova continues to live life to the fullest and has not stopped her creative pursuits. She dreams of living to the age of 100 and continues to share a positive spirit with her fans.
