US seizes three Iranian oil tankers in Indian Ocean

The United States military has intercepted and seized three Iranian-flagged oil tankers—the *Dorena*, *Deep Sea*, and *Sevin*—carrying crude oil across strategic waters in the Indian Ocean. According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the vessels were detained near the coasts of India, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka, with the *Dorena* currently under destroyer escort after attempting to bypass a blockade. In a simultaneous escalation, Iran reported the seizure of two container ships in the Strait of Hormuz, heightening regional tensions in critical maritime corridors. Experts warn that these confrontations could lead to significant volatility in international energy markets due to the strategic importance of these shipping lanes.
The United States has reportedly intercepted three large oil tankers operating under the Iranian flag in Asian maritime regions.
According to reports, these vessels, identified near the coasts of India, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka, were diverted and taken under control by U.S. military forces.
A statement from CENTCOM indicated that the tanker "Dorena" attempted to breach a blockade and is being held under the escort of a military destroyer in the Indian Ocean. The other vessels — the "Deep Sea" and "Sevin" — were also detained while fully loaded with crude oil.
Simultaneously, the Iranian side announced that it has intensified its operations in the Strait of Hormuz, reporting the seizure of two container ships.
Experts believe that the escalation of tension in this strategic region, through which a significant portion of the world's oil and gas flows pass, could have a serious impact on international energy markets.
